Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish ancestry as is her mother. Her father, whose family hailed from Mexico and is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. She is the sister of Vincent who is a brother and Pamela who is a sister. Carter was 5 years old when she made her public TV debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. In high school, Carter performed in a band called Just Us. The group was comprised of conga drum, marimba, an acoustic bass and stand-up basses. One member of the group also played guitar. Lynda started singing at a local pizzeria when she was 15. 8. When she turned 16, she joined her cousins who were in a group known as The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer of The band. The band first began at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen due to being older than 21. After being called "Most Talented" and deciding to leave school and pursue the career of a musician. In 1970, Carter auditioned and then performed on tour with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first show together was at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. They played mostly to hotel staff and hotel guests who left their cars in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit", playing shows in many of the state's casino lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972. He then returned to Arizona.
